CGI
Common Gateway Interface or CGI is a standard protocol for interfacing external software with a web server. CGI is commonly used by web application software. The OCF web server implements support for the CGI protocol. Please see our CGI documentation for more information.
PHP
The OCF currently supports the use of PHP 4 and PHP 5 on our web server through CGI scripts. Please see our PHP documentation for more information.
Perl
The OCF currently supports the use of Perl on our web server through CGI scripts. Please see our Perl documentation for more information.
Security
The OCF uses a variety of tools to protect our web users from web application attack and spam. These tools include:
- ModSecurity, an Apache module that provides an application layer firewall for web applications.
Apache documentation
The official documentation for Apache can be located at the Apache server's website.
Much of the information contained in the official documentation is only useful to system administrators, but there are some sections that should be of interest to OCF users. There is a reference section on server-side includes (SSI), .htaccess files, authentication, access control, and other features.
Restrictions
The OCF places very few restrictions on the contents of your website. We do reserve the right to have any materials removed from your area that cause problems with OCF machines, pose a security risk, or violate OCF and/or campus policy. OCF staff also reserve the right to decide exactly constitutes a problem.
Files in your web directories count towards your disk quota.
Helping others find your documents
The OCF maintains a list of web pages hosted on our web server. If you want to be added to this page, log into an OCF machine via SSH and run the command www-optin. Alternatively, go to this page and choose the www-optin command. You may use the same command to remove yourself from the list.
