Talk:SSH
From OCF Help
In FAQ, "If I have already SSH'ed into the OCF, why do I have to re-enter my password if I SSH to another OCF machine?", I'm not sure if ... it's actually a frequently asked question. For one, I've never seen anyone (other than tdhock) ask that question, definitely not on staffmail. Also, I am, for one, against advertising use of ssh-agent to our users, without fully explaining the security implications, and what it does. If we do advertise it, we should write a fuller document on it (and before we do, warn the users to read up on it!). Also, we should not get our users used to running scripts in random users' home directory---if we advertise other users to run a particular script, it should be properly installed in /opt/local with proper documentation. novakyu 15:25, 21 April 2006 (PDT)
Additionally, we should not have list of machines on this SSH page. In short, it's too much information. The longer explanation will involve how this is fast-changing information and this page is not likely to be updated to reflect that correctly, as well as how users should find out about using individual machines through longer experience and exposure to OCF. Remember this SSH page is meant for people who don't even know SSH yet (much less how OCF's machines are set up). If no protest is registered on this talk page in one week, I'll remove that entire section (and possible move it to another article). novakyu 15:31, 21 April 2006 (PDT)
