Policies:Abuse of resources
From OCF Help
This is OCF's Policy on Abuse of Resources as approved by the Board of Directors on March 12, 2009
The OCF has limited resources which it must make available to a large number of users. Because of this, the OCF must set reasonable limits on the amount of resources which may be used by any one user.
Abuse of resources is defined as anything which places an undue burden on OCF services and which is not in furtherance of the University's academic mission. For instance, if you have a large file you're serving for a class project, that's one thing. If you're acting as a mirror for your friend's home movies, that's not why the OCF is here.
OCF staff may ask people violating this policy to reduce their usage if staff determines that a particular use constitutes abuse of resources. Users may appeal this decision to the Board of Directors. Users who abuse resources may have their accounts disabled if they fail to reduce their resource usage within a reasonable amount of time.
