Activating services
From OCFwiki
To give our users the greatest choice in how they use their accounts, many OCF services must be explicitly activated before they are added to an account.
Contents |
Web Hosting
All accounts include basic web hosting with a web address at http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~username. Please consult our web hosting documentation for instructions on how to activate your web space.
Group accounts may also request a virtual host, which will allow them to use a sub-domain of the Berkeley.EDU domain (ex., groupname.berkeley.edu). Please consult our virtual hosting documentation for our policies regarding virtual hosting and how to request a virtual host for your group account.
Databases
All accounts are entitled to a single MySQL and PostgreSQL database (one of each). Many web applications (blogs, image galleries, content management systems) require one of these databases. Please consult our database documentation for information on creating and using your own database.
Mailing Lists
The OCF hosts a number of mailing lists for our group accounts. Mailing lists allow groups to easily communicate with all their members and can be used to faciliate online forums. Please consult our mailing list documentation for more information.
Mail Forwarding
Some users choose to have all their OCF mail forwarded to another mail address or account. Please consult our mail forwarding documentation for instructions on how to forward your OCF mail.
Spam Filtering
The OCF offers automatic spam filtering to all of its users. Due to the possibility of false positives, spam filtering must be explicitly enabled. Please consult our spam filtering documentation for more information regarding our spam filtering technology and how to enable it for your account.
